I don't know about you guys, but with the holidays in full swing, the last thing I want to be doing is taking more than even 20 minutes to have dinner started, finished, and on the table for my little family. I feel like life gets so incredibly busy with, well, life in general. So taking a few extra minutes making dinner can seriously save some holiday sanity. This recipe is one of those go-to keep-you-sane easy-dinners that will have your family's bellies full, your kitchen not covered with dishes, and will leave you with plenty of time to get done those few things left on your to-do list this holiday season.
My 3-year-old son and I made these together last week and they were incredibly easy! I rolled out the crescent roll dough, he added the mini pepperoni (while sneaking a few here and there for snacking) and mozzarella cheese, I rolled up the crescents and sprinkled each one with a little garlic powder & oregano, we placed them on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet, baked them for 8 minutes, and dinner was D.O.N.E. Of course, we served them along side a crisp Caeser salad, and some fresh clementine slices for more substance. :) Dinner was ready, and it seriously required little to zero effort at all. Plus, it's a perfect recipe for getting those little ones to help in the kitchen. Double win, I'm tellin' you!
Crescent Pizza Roll-Ups
makes 16 rolls
ingredients:
6 mozzarella cheese sticks, cut into thirds
2/3 C mini pepperoni
2 packages fluffy refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 t garlic powder
1 t dried oregano
marinara sauce for dipping (we really love Classico Pizza Sauce)
method:
1. Preheat oven to 325 (or whatever temperature is required on the side of the refrigerated packaged dough). Prep a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. On a clean surface, unroll the crescent dough and separate triangles. On each triangle, place a piece of the mozzarella, and a small bit of pepperoni (5 or 9 little pieces). Tuck the sides of the triangle over the fillings, and then roll it from thick end to thin until a small crescent roll is formed. Place on the parchment paper 1 inch apart, and repeat with remaining dough. Sprinkle each crescent with a little garlic powder and oregano.
3. Bake for 9 minutes, or until tops are golden. Remove from oven and serve immediately with warmed marinara sauce.
